A new variant of the coronavirus AY.63, a subspecies of the Delta strain, has been discovered in Norway. According to local experts, the mutation is not more dangerous than other strains. This was reported by NRK TV company.
According to media reports, a new version of the “Delta” virus was first discovered by the National Institute of Public Health at the end of June. From that moment on, it appeared in many cities of the country.
Researchers do not believe that it is more dangerous than the usual “Delta” virus. Experts are confident that the vaccine protects a person against this strain of the virus as well as against other variants. So they emphasize that there is no reason to be too worried.
“We have no evidence that it has a particular competitive advantage,” says a senior fellow at the National Institute of Public Health Olav Hungnes.
It's worth noting that the Ministry of Health announced the first positive signal of the passage of the peak incidence of COVID-19 in Ukraine.
