Ukrainian COVID certificates in the "Diia" application have undergone a technical assessment by the European Union and may soon be recognized by all member-states, Government Portal press-service reports.
While beta testing of COVID certificates is underway in Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation prolongs work on their mutual recognition with the EU. On August 4, the technical solution of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the State Enterprise Diia on the EU Digital COVID Certificate has undergone technical evaluation by the EU. The technical team praised the terms of implementation, accuracy and compliance of Ukrainian COVID-certificates with EU specifications.
So far, the last step remains - the political part of mutual recognition, namely the approval by the European Commission and the signing of relevant agreements. After that, a memorandum will be signed to allow Ukrainians to travel with certificates.
"We have managed to develop and introduce COVID certificates in the shortest possible time, although at first, it seemed almost impossible. In cooperation with other countries, we tested innovations and created universal information exchange systems. Such projects are real proof of Ukraine's integration with the EU. Soon, Ukrainians will be able to return to their pre-COVID normal with travel and business meetings with foreign partners," said Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Teams of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Health, the National Health Insurance Fund, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the State Tax Service are jointly involved in the development and technical implementation.
"Vaccination is the only way to protect yourself from the disease and return to normal life. Today, anyone can get vaccinated and be protected. When a person completes a COVID-19 immunization course, ie receives 2 doses of the vaccine, it will be possible to generate a vaccination certificate in the application or on the portal Diia. Now we have an important victory, Ukrainian COVID certificates in Diia have already been successfully evaluated by the EU," said Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.
The project is introduced with the support of the European Delegation, the EU4Digital Program and the EGAP Program, implemented by East Europe Foundation and funded by Switzerland.
